Surprising stretch of coastline shaped by fire, the coastline close to Mount Etna volcano offers extraordinary views where nature blends spectacularly with archaeological and architectural treasures, evidence of the area's rich history. Its unparalleled symbol is, of course, Taormina, nestled on a natural terrace 200 m above sea level: a rare combination of history, sea and nature. North of Taormina, Letojanni is a renowned coastal resort. The town overlooks the gulf and enjoys a mild climate year-round and abundant sunshine that warms the beaches and makes the waters of the Ionian Sea sparkle. The beaches are a mix of fine sand and small pebbles and extend all the way to Taormina.

Thanks to the variety of the Sicilian cycling environment, it is possible to travel to Sicily as often as you like and have a completely different experience each time.

LET'S BEGIN WITH YOUR FIRST ONE!

Postcards from Letojanni

Cycle the volcano

Seven climbs, one unforgettable scenery

Do you fancy a bike ride to the highest active volcano in europe?
You can challenge the Etna from the Southern slope choosing between five climbs (Zafferana, Nicolosi, Pedara, Ragalna or Biancavilla) or choosing between the two climbs on the Northern slope (Linguaglossa or Fornazzo).

A ride you can't refuse!

Savoca, the village of the movie "The Godfather", filmed by Francis Ford Coppola

Riding in Sicily makes you discover lots of special places, like the lovely village of Savoca. Good for Francis Ford Coppola, is good for us too. So let's have a cappuccino break at this picturesque location from the Godfather movie. The Vitelli bar has remained unchanged since the seventies.

Cycle among the vineyards

A quiet ride with the Etna in the background

A relaxing ride through the vineyards of Mount Etna, the walls of lava stones, and the terraces where the grapes are cultivated before becoming a delicious Etna Wine.

What they tell about us

  • Simone was incredibly helpful and the bike was perfect. He shared lots of route recommendations with me including gpx files which made navigation super easy. Can't recommend his service enough!
  • We had really great experience with this rental company. Perfect servis, we were provided with all necessary tools, maps, recommendations and tips. And on top of that, Simone is really cool guy! Highly recommended! Tomas
  • The best road bike rental in Sicily. They help you plan your routes. Great communication and super friendly atmosphere. I've been to Mallorca, Malaga and Alicante, but the service here is the best. Thank you Simone. I'd love to come back next year. Current Italian road bikes Basso
  • I’ve hired many bikes in lots of locations and can honestly say this was my best experience of all of them 🙏 🚴‍♀️🎉 Away with non-cycling family I made a last minute google to try and experience cycling in Sicily, hopefully up Etna. What a find Simone was 😃 … super and quick communications giving me 100% confidence ahead of the hire, a great Scott bike at a very fair price but above all a really fabulous, friendly and accommodating guy (coming up with a solution to my limited options for collecting and dropping the bike off 🙏). Unfortunately, the weather (low cloud and a bit of rain) wasn’t good for Etna and Simone talked me out of it (despite me being determined to ‘tick it off’) and he was 100% right (confirmed when I took the bus up there the following day !). His alternative, The Godfather Route he sent me a gps for was brilliant (as were the add-ons we discussed) … quiet roads, lovely towns and great views and away from the rain ! If you’re considering bike hire in Sicily, it’s definitely a worthwhile destination AND I 💯% wouldn’t look at anyone else to hire from. Looking forward to a return for Etna and the other great cycling available there 😃
  • The very first thing I did when we were planning a holiday to Sicily was to see if there was (however unlikely) a bicycle rental that had road bikes in my size, so when I stumbled across Italy-Cycling/ Simone and their XXS Canyon I couldn't believe my luck. Even more so when I actually got the bike due to a last minute cancellation (and a very late request on my part). Simone was super quick to answer and help me with any questions I had. In the shop he provided great routes, had cool bottles with Sicily specific motifs and just an all round awesome personality & service. The bike was well maintained and very fairly priced. Moreover, contrary to my assumptions, the drivers here were really considerate and friendly, much more so than at home in Germany. So in conclusion, if you're in Sicily and you're a cycling enthusiast, you need to check out Italy-Cycling! I was also quite surprised by the lovely town of Letojanni, I would definitely recommend staying there!
